Charging faults Not Charging, Auto Charging and Charger not support

Now we know about how we can solve No Charging. There is the complete not for solving other charging faults which are commonly we can see. Those are Not Charging , Auto Charging and Charger not support. Specially read that notes step by step and understand about correct solving method for that all faults.

Not Charging

When you connect the charger you can see a massage like " Not Charging". This is the faults which we are going to solve now.

  • Firstly you can change your Charger. ( Because when your charger is damaged or it has bad out put voltage , it will be not suitable for your mobile phone PCB. therefore your phone identify that charger is like a bad one and show a message like " Not Charging".

  • After that check your phone. If you can see that fault again you can change your phone battery.  Because when you use unsuitable battery for your mobile phone minority you can see this faults. Specially when you replace a new battery for your phone you must compare it with the old battery model. ( Ex, BP-6M , BL-5K , BL-4C...etc)

  • Then please check the battery pin, Charging connector and if damaged that parts replaced new parts or damage parts.  If your faults is not solved then you can service ( clean and formating) your phone. Notonly that but also you can format or reset your phone. Specially , when you cleaning your phone use original tools and only clean Charging connector , Battery pin and charging Path.

  • Then check Charging protection circuit on PCB. Charging fuse , Diode,

  • Sometimes this type of fault is not a hardware fault it can be a software fault. Because of that you can upgrade software or flash your phone. Specially when Nokia  1100 " Not Charging" fault comes with minoriy as a hardware fault majority as a software fault. so often it can be solved by repairing software or upgrading it.
  •  
  • Specially these fault is come with damaging BSI ( Battery Sit Indicator) line or components which are in BSI line. Because of that check the BSI line correctly and if damage any component replace that part.

  • Finally check the Charging IC or UEM. Firstly heat it and check again connecting charger if damage is same with previous Replace a new IC.

 
Auto Charging

When you disconnect or remove the charger , mobile phone shows charging symbol . Generally when you remove the charger , charging symbol will disappeared but this time after the removing charger symbol is not disappeared.
 
  • Firstly you can format or reset your phone.

  • Then you can clean your phone and check Battery pin , Charging connector and power section of your mobile phone. 
  •  
  • After that remove your charging connector and replace a new one. At this time 80% this faul will be ok. But if it is not solved yet, Then check BSI line and all components in BSI line.

  • After the all above steps are done and if the faults are not solved then  finally you can flash your phone otherwise you have to replace a new Charging IC or UEM.


Charger Not Support.
When you connect the charger mobile phone shows a message " Charger Not Support" on the screen and pnone will be no charging. This is not a common fault but when you have seen like this fault you want to fix this fault step by step properly.
  • Firstly Change the charger (Because when charger output voltage is unstable or greater than necessary voltage) and try to after formating or reseting your phone settins.

  • Check The charging port and battery pin if that parts are damaged try to check after replacing that parts.

  • Specially mainly this fault is come with BT ( Battery Temperature) line. Because of that check the BT line and all components which are in BT line. (if damage any components replace a new one for that)

  • Finally you must heat or replace a new UEM or Charging IC. Before you remove UEM or Charging IC try with flashing your phone.  
This is the easy and correct method for solving charging faults in your mobile phones. But specially when you disassembling your mobile phone use a proper tools for doing it and dont try to do it without good idea how can it disassemble.

How you can solve charging faults

There are all charging faults which come can as various types.Not only that but also you can get a good idea about how can you solve that all faults correctly and step by step. Charging faults are mainly of four types.

  • No Charging
  • Auto Charging
  • Not Charging
  • Charger not support

No Charging

This is the main faults when we think about charging faults. When we connect a charger with phone then phone will not be charged therefore we cant charge our phone using charger. Like that time we will try to use multicharger or external charger for charging phone battery. But dear that fault is a very easy faults for solving correctly. Ok then we are going to understand about  how we can solve that fault step by step.


  • Check the Battery voltage and if it is dead change the battery( Because when battery voltage is les than 1.9V it will be not charging. sometimes that can be 2.4V for more information please check the Battery lesons for understanding battery and faults which can be come with memory effect) if its voltage is less than 1.9V you can boost it.Remember when you use new battery check its model, it must be same with old battery.


  • Connect a new charger( Because when charger is damaged or work not properly that faults can be occurred.)
  • Check the charging connectors( System connector ) and Battery Pin. If that parts are damaged replace new parts.( When damage or oxidation these parts voltage is not flowing through these parts therefore Battery will not charge )
  •  
  • Then service your phone ( clean ) properly. At this time oxidation which are in your PCB will be removed)
  • Finally you want to check charging line.( how can you find charging line)
  • get the circuit diagram and find a charging controll IC. Nowadays charging is controlled by UEM ( Power IC ) . Then find the charging line it is a uinqe line which is connecting one end with UEM and other end with charging port.
There is a example how can you find nokia1110 charging line using schematic diagrams



After find charging line then check along the charging line , when you checking this line you will meet electronic components try to understanding about that components and check thats are damage or no using multimeter. there is a example for understanding about this step.

After the checking F2000 and L2000 if and only if damage that electronic components then you can replace taht parts  or other wise you can make a jumper as following.



If you have done that all steps and faults is not solved then finally you can check your Charging IC or UEM. firstly heat and if it is not worked then replaced a new IC. This is the correct method for solving No Charging fault.

    Nokia 6210 Navigator phone heat , 2700c ,5130 hang white screen

    1. Nokia 6210 navigator Phone heat
    • Firstly you want to check your phone with power supply. Connect phone to power supply and switch on. At this time phone is not heating you can change your battery. Because of damage your battery( memory effect) your phone may be heat. But when you connect phone to power supply and it heat again.

    • Now you can format or reset settings. you can use this codes for formating your phone. Default password is 12345

    If your faults in same condition
    • Disassemble your phone very safely and clean PCB and other components properly.( specially you must use only proper tools for disassembeling and cleaning ,otherwise your phone will be dead).     • If your faults in same condition. Then you can check PCB Components( short circuit or open circuit) using analog or digital multimeter. If you can find short circuit then you can replace that components.But dont try to remove any IC yet. Faults in same condition.

    • Please remove the this IC ( Radio Fm discrete IC) . your problem will be solved 100%.

    2.Vodafone 225 keypad stuck , keypad not work , phone stuck


    • Firstly you can check your vodafone keypad embrane (Domestic). Because when damage or oxidation your phone keypad domestic above faults can be occurred. There fore clean domestic and check your phone. If you can see same faults again

    • You can remove  Charging pin and replace a new one.


    • If you can see again that faults after the removing charging pin then you can flash your vodafone.  Finally if you can see again unfortunately that faults can be come with CPU.  Try to CPU other wise you will be able to replace a new CPU.

    3. Nokia 2700 c , 5130c 2730 Nokia logo then white screen or when  power on white screen hang done.

    • Change the battery or try to switch on using power supply. if problem is not solved
    • flash your phone correctly. (If  your phone has a short, remove that short). After the flashing (some times when you try to flash you will be unable to do it because of errors. then try to do next step) check again. If fault is same as previous

    • Then Remove Camera and try to switch on. Majority at that time your problem will be solved. But if the problem is same

    • Heat very carefully Rap IC.Because Majority this fault is occured because of damage Rap IC.

    If you unable to solve your problem yet finally you have to remove Rap IC and Replace a new one. Remember that Rap IC is a Micro BGA therefore you want get a good experience for removing and replacing a like that IC.


    Specially when you disassembeling your phone must use proper tools for doing it.Never try to remove main ICs without not a good understanding about that ICs and faults. This solutions will  help to solving above faults correctly.

    Mobile Phone Hardware Repairing ( about faults comes with IC )

    We can divide all Mobile phone damages  as Hardware , Software and Settings faults. when we think about hardware damages or faults mainly we want to know what are the main ICs and faults comes with IC. Old phones had ICs more than latest phones.     • Signal Drop

    • Some Frequency band are not worked properly

    RF Processor ( Hagar IC)
    RF( Radio Frequency ) Processor is a main IC in your phone PCB. This IC is used for processing  Rx and Tx signal ( for Modulating and Demodulating). sometimes it make a low frequency clock signal is used to start CPU functions. Therefore when damage this IC we can see faults as following.


    • Power on failure
    • Signal drop
    • No network
    • Caller drop
    • Rx or Tx or both are not work properly
    • Battery empty quickly and phone will heat

    Power IC
    Power IC distribute current to all the components and IC in PCB. we can think that, it is work as voltage regulator therefore if it is worked not properly phone will not be power on. specially we can see some times some applications are not worked because of Power IC is damage.(when power ic not distribute current for circuits that circuits are not worked).

      CPU (Central Process Unit)
      Central Process Unit is the brain in your mobile phone and controller all commands which we have given. Specially this IC check flash IC before booting mobile phone after that it will give command to Power IC. When it damages we can see following faults.

    • Commant not accepted
    • KeyPad not working

    Charging IC
    This IC is not a common IC  among latest phone.     Flas IC ( ROM or EEPROM)
    This IC  holds flash or booting  information(program). When this IC damage we can see software problems in your phone as follwoings.

    SIM IC

    Key Pad IC

    Introduction about Mobile Phone IC's( Integrated Circuits )

    There are Complete notes about Main IC's  in mobile phones and How can you identify its. Not only that but also you can get a real idea about mobile phone damages or faults which are comes with IC. Specially there are three main type IC s in mobile phone. These are

    1. Pin IC
    2. Path IC
    3. MBGA ( Micro Ball Grid Array ) 

    • Pin IC

    Integrated Circuits are complex circuits which have been etched onto tiny chips of semiconductor. When we think about Pin IC, The chip is packaged in a plastic holder with pins  which will fit the holes on stripboard and breadboards. Very fine wires inside the package link the chip to the pins.


    How Can we numbering the Pins in IC

    These pins are which is in Pin IC have been numbered for finding more 100% correctly details about its circuitit. Number 1 is which we can see when we checking anti-clockwise around the IC (chip) starting near the notch or dot.


    You can mount and unmount or replace these IC s using SMD rework station. However when you replace like this IC you must mount all pin to the PCB and do not short circuit.Specially Latest mobile phones have not like this IC s. But when you training to mount and unmount these Ic s then you will be able to replace chinease phone display , Switches ... etc.


    • Path IC
    When you check your mobile phone PCB , you will be unable to find these ICs quickly .But when you unmount these ICs you can easily identify thats. following images will be helpfull for undersanding about its  ecternal appearance.


    Majority ,Power Amp and Antenna Switch are come as this type of IC.However you can mount and unmount easily using SMD Rework station. But unfortunately we can see only two or three ICs on common mobile phones.


    MBGA( Micro Ball Grud Array)

    The BGA is descended from the pin grid array (PGA), which is a package with one face covered (or partly covered) with pins in a grid pattern. These pins conduct electrical signals from the integrated circuit to the printed circuit board (PCB) on which it is placed. In a BGA, the pins are replaced by balls of solder stuck to the bottom of the package.


    These solder spheres can be placed manually or with automated equipment. The solder spheres are held in place with a tacky flux until soldering occurs.The device is placed on a PCB with copper pads in a pattern that matches the solder balls. The assembly is then heated, either in a reflow oven or by an infrared heater, causing the solder balls to melt. Surface tension causes the molten solder to hold the package in alignment with the circuit board, at the correct separation distance, while the solder cools and solidifies.(wikipedia)



    You can use Infared , Laser or manual SMD rework station for removing or mounting for BGA. When you have remove BGA IC firstly you want Clean PCB surface and Reballing IC and pcb surface.

    After Reballing you can see IC and PCB as following



     Finally you can mount new or reballed IC using Laser, Infared or manual SMD Rework stations.


     Specially Before you Remove your BGA IC firstly try to solve damage soldering or heating. then you can remove that damage IC  and try to replace new one. When you replace that IC some times your phone will be short circuit , if it is short circuit never try to Switch on and try to Soldering otherwise replace again it. However you want get a good experience for doing that therefore you can practice with dead or damage phones.

    Mobile Phone Common damages comes with Battery

    When Damage Mobile phone Battery you will be able to see lot of faults in your phone. Then you must change your Battery for solve that faults but if you cant identify about that faults which are comes with Battery definitely you will try to repairing your phone using other methods. Because of that sometimes your phone will be dead.Therfore you must know about that faults and how can you solve its. Carefully read following notes step by step and identify about all damages which are comes with Battery.



    What is Memory Effect

    Memory Effect is that if battery is repeatedly only partially discharged before recharging , battery forgets that it has the capacity (cells) to furhter discharge all the way down. If you fully charge your mobile phone battery and then use only 75% of its capacity before the next recharge , eventually the battery will become unaware of its extra % capacity which has remained unused.

    The battery will remain functional , but only at25% of its original capacity. When you do same thing step by step remain functional which is in your battery will not be worked and that cells will be dead.After that we can say that battery has been memory effected.

     What are the faults comes with Memory Effect
    • Power On failure
    • No Charging
    • Signal Drop
    • When you power on with sim card, Power off other wise ok
    • When signal come phone will power off

      Reason and solution for above faults (if its are Battery faults)
      Power On failure:
      When Battery Voltage less than 3.7V Phone will be power on failure. You must Recharge your Battery or replace a new battery. If you can connect your phone to power supply machine then you will be identify this faults easily.

      No Charging :
      When your Battery Voltage less than 1.9V( or some thimes it can be2.4V ). You must boost your battery or high charge( do it correctly like this , give 10 pulse for battery conectors using 6V. Warning. used correct voltage and 30 seconds for each pulse otherwise it will be damaged).
      Warning : Specially this damage is come with Hardware parts. firstly you can connnect to power supply and identify reason for that fault.


      Signal Drop :
      Generally Signal circuits want high voltage( around 4V ) for doing its job properly. But if your phone Battery is damaged or memory effect that circuits cant get this voltage continuously because of that you can see signal drop in your phone.
      When you replace a good battery for old one this faults will be solved.
      Warning : Specially this damage is come with Hardware parts. firstly you can connnect to power supply and identify reason for that fault.



      When you power on with sim card, Power off otherwise ok
      When signal come phone will power off
      When you Power on with sim card Signal circuit will worked and its want good voltage source. If your Battery is memory effect , it will be unable to give power for signal circuit and Power ic. Therefore Phone will be shut down. when you replace new battery for your phone it will be ok. Warning : Specially this damage is come with Hardware parts. firstly you can connnect to power supply and identify reason for that fault.

      When make a call Battery empty or powe off
      When make a call Signal circuit and RF units are working with full capacity and also that circuits want high volatge for working. If your mobile phone battery is memory effect it will be unable to supply that voltage Because of that your phone will be shut down.
      when you replace a good battery for old one that fault will be solved.
      Warning : Specially this damage is come with Hardware parts. firstly you can connnect to power supply and identify reason for that fault.

      Battery life time will be reduced
      Battery will charge quickly
      Battery will be heat
      Because of memory effect your mobile phone battery have damage cells therefore it hasnt full capacity so when you plug in charger it will be battery full quickly. Not only that but also it will be heat and life time will be reduced.

      Minority you can see insert sim because of BSI terminal not connect with PCB Battery pinIf your battery is a exploit one or damage one you must change it. But specially , Majority this fault is come with hardware damage.

      Software problems
      When you run any application in your phone it will take high voltage more than stand by time. If your battery is memory effect , it will be unable to supply that voltage therefore you will be unable to run that software or application in your phone.

      Please change the battery and try to do it again , if it is come with battery definitely it will be worked properly.

    Type of Mobile Phone Batteries and about its works, damages and safety

    Mobile phone battery is a Rechargeable (cells) battery which has long life time and good efficiency. we can see these batteries as four types. they are NiCd, NiMH, Li-Ion, Li-Polymer.

    Kinds of mobile phone battery.

    • NiCd
    • NiMH
    • Li-Ion
    • Li-Polymer

    NiCd and NiMH  Battery

    These Batteries are used in old version mobile phones. Nowadays we cant see these batteries in latest mobile phones but these batteries are used for Laptoop or CDMA phones or some electronic machines. .However before few years these batteries were the most popular and cheapest Rechargable battery in the mobile phone industry.




    Li-Ion or Li-Polymer

    These Batteries are used in latest phones and electronics machines and also it have long life time and efficiency.When we think about mobile phone faults, some faults are comes with battery. Then we want to identify what are the faults comes with battery and how can we solve it. fistly we want to know about battery pin out and types of pin out

    • GND : Ground or negative Terminal
    • BAT : Battery Positive Terminal
    • BSI : Battery Site Indicator
    • BTemp : Battery Temparature.
    GND or Negative Terminal
    Ground or negative terminal is a refference point for measuring other voltage or returning point for electric current and alos it is same to negative battery terminal.

    BAT +
    VBat or Positive terminal is also known as Battery Positive terminal , BAT+ or +.

    BSI
    BSI is also known as Battery status Indicator or Battery System Indicator.There are some mobile phones, which has shorter BSI pin. It is because when the battery is being removed when the phone is turned on, the BSI circuit interrupts first, which tells the processor to shut down all communication to prevent damage.

    The battery block contains BSI resistor for battery identification. The BSI fixed resistor value indicates the chemistry and default capacity of a battery. Temperature and capacity information is needed for charge control (charging current and the voltage).
    It is connected to resistor to GND. The phone measures the resistance of the BSI - GND connectors, and it can determine which kind of battery is in the phone.
    Examples: Nokia NiMH batteries:
    • BMC-2 640mAH 3.3 kOhm
    • BMC-3 900mAH 5.6 kOhm

    Nokia Li-Ion batteries:
    • LB-2 650 mAH 68 kOhm
    • BLC-2 900 mAH 75 kOhm

    Battery Temperature

    B Temp is also known as Battery Temperature or NTC. The battery block contains NTC (and usually BSI) resistors for temperature measurement. Temperature and capacity information is needed for charge control. These resistors are connected to BSI and BTEMP pins of the battery connector.

    The phone stops the charging, if the battery is starting to overheating.
    In case of NTC thermistor, if the temperature increasing, the resistance decreasing. The temperature of the battery make the resistance beetween the GND and the BTemp change.

    There are batteries which don't have BTemp connector. In this case, the phone has the temperature meter which is in the mobile phone, close to the battery.(via wikipedia)
